Lester, Elizabeth R.

Elizabeth R. Lester, 95 of Orange, N.J. formerly of Christiansburg, Va., departed this life Wednesday, March 14, 2007 after a brief illness at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J.

She was married to the late Thompson Lester, Sr. of Christiansburg and from this union, two children were born, Thompson V. Lester, Jr. of Blacksburg and Carole Jean of Orange, N.J. and foster daughter, Rebecca McDaniel-Wright of Navarre, Fla. She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene; five brothers, Paul, Thomas, Cleo, Robert and Tracy.

She was a life long resident of Christiansburg. She spent six years in Orange, with her husband and daughter and the last eight years with daughter, Carole. Elizabeth (Bettye) was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a member of the Eastern Stars, Tri-Community Chapter 238.

She leaves to mourn, a son, Thompson Jr. (Burnett) and a daughter, Carole Jean; a foster daughter, Rebecca; grandson, Thompson III (Sherrie); two greatgrandchildren, Isabella and Zhane; two sisters-in-law, Frances Ramey and Laurna Lester and a host of nieces, nephews and a community of friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Christiansburg, Va. with Dr. Langston Bannister officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the church for viewing. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home (540) 345-9100.
