Leonard, Wallace Gregory

He is survived by sons, Quentin Kelby Leonard (daughter-in-law Amber) and Seth Thomas Leonard; daughter, Brittany Leonard Scott (son-in-law Gary Jr.); step-son, Bobby “Rob” Baron (daughter-in-law Mary); five granddaughters will miss him: Paisley, Harper and Emery Leonard, and Anna and Vada Scott, along with Bobby’s five children; siblings, Kent Roberson Leonard and Byron Ethan Leonard (nephews Kaden and Cole), Ava “Marena” James (niece Emily and nephew Neil), SuAnn Walton (brother-in-law Keith and niece Ila Jo).
After serving in the US Army in the 70s, he received the National Defense Service Medal. He often shared stories of Austria and his stay at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Greg was known and respected for his strong work ethic, a lifetime as a skilled timber cutter, and appraiser of timber tracts in VA and NC. Since a child, he knew his way around a sawmill and all aspects of logging. He retired, self-employed from the timber industry.
On his rare day of leisure, he enjoyed car races and bluegrass music. He had a heart for the elderly and would randomly show up to see if they had any needs. Of course, he was thankful for his Lord Jesus Christ and took peace in knowing that his eternal life is now resting in his grace. Greg loved intensely, yet privately, by selflessly providing and maintaining a masterful ownership of responsibility.
Gratitude for Maberry Funeral Home who have been helping families since 1927.

He was a good neighbor to me for the past 25 years, and my friend. We helped each other as good neighbors do. I will miss him very much. My heart goes out to his family and other friends. Peace on your journey, Greg.

SuAnn,
I’m so sorry for the loss of your brother. I have thought about where and how you were over the years. In case you don’t remember who I am you lived with me for a short while at Old Farm Village & I worked at the Holiday Inn.
Again I’m sorry for the loss of your brother.
