Lemley, John Fred

John “Jake” Fred Lemley, 65, of Christiansburg, Virginia, went to be with the Lord November 26th, 2022. Jake was preceded in death by his parents John Edgar Lemley and Kathleen Weakley Lemley; sister Barbara “Bobbie” Lemley Williams; brother in law Edward Lee Williams.

Jake will be remembered as an outgoing, fun loving soul with a heart of gold and fan of sports, especially NASCAR. He served his country and his community well, taking great pride in being a veteran. Virginia Tech games, listening to music by the lake and good food were just a few of the things Jake enjoyed with his special friend, Charlotte.

Wherever Jake went he made friends, a confident personality, not knowing a stranger and a contagious laugh were just a few of his great qualities. Wednesdays and holidays were often reserved for his goddaughter, Michelle, whether they were going out to eat or watching scary movies together.

Jake loved his children, Michelle and Michael. He took great joy in being a father, instilling the importance of work ethic and independence while always reminding them he loved them both. Jake showed kindness to all and will truly be missed by his family and many close friends.

Jake is survived by his children Michelle (James) Boswell and Michael Lemley; goddaughter Michelle Faw; special friend Charlotte Linkous; extended family Stephanie (Chris) Newton, Jeannette Seay and Linda Hodges.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 1 to 3pm. at McCoy Funeral Home, located at 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg, VA 24060.

In lieu of flowers, donations towards funeral expenses are appreciated.
