Ledford, Vera Ward

Vera Ward Ledford, 90, of Pulaski, Va., died early Thursday morning, January 21, 2010, in Northwood Hills Private Home Care in Pulaski. She was born on May 9, 1919, in Pulaski, and was the daughter of the late Martha Adkins Ward and John Wesley Ward. She was a retired personnel director for Pulaski Furniture Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer William Ledford; three brothers, Roy Ward, Glen Ward, and Ernest Ward; and a sister, Ethel Armes. She is survived by a son, Bob Ledford, of Pulaski; a daughter, Sandra Taylor and her husband, John, of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Lesley Swartz and her husband, John, of Roanoke, and John Mark Taylor and his wife, Brenda, of Kinston, N.C.; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Swartz, of Roanoke. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Linkous officiating. There will be no public visitation.
