Leathers, Bonita Walter

Bonita Walter Leathers, 89, of Newbern, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Highland Ridge Rehab Center, Dublin. She was the daughter of the late William Wallace Walter and Faye Brown Walter. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Lee Leathers. Bonita was a professor at NRCC for 23 years, and was named Professor Emeritus in 1996.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Mike Oestreicher, and Connie Leathers and husband, Dan Bailey; sister, Jean Fellmann; grandchildren, John and Jennifer Sledd and Robert Jordan; and great-grandchild, Elena Sledd. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013, from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Eddie Callahan and Pastor Bob McFadden officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
