Wallace “Wally” Edward Lawson, 76, of Narrows, VA entered the gates of Heaven to be with his Lord after a courageous and victorious battle with Cancer in his home, Wednesday morning, February 5, 2020, surrounded by family and in the care of Hospice. Born January 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lura Dunn Lawson.

Wally was a member of the Narrows High School Class of 1962. He was the beloved retail clerk at Reese’s Building Supply,a Life-Member of the Giles County Rescue Squad, and dearly loved by his church family at Bethel Chapel in Clendennin where he was a skilled musician, not only on the keyboard, but on a multitude of instruments and often hugged by the children, for his pocket of candy.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Glen Lawson, nephew Billy Lawson, and niece Lisa Cantara.

He leaves to cherish his wife Lavonda Shaver Lawson of Narrows; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Jimmy McCroskey of Narrows, Granddaughter Camry McCroskey of Narrows; brothers, Tom (Peggy) Lawson of Christiansburg, and Ronnie Lawson of Narrows, VA; sisters Louise Wirt of Blacksburg, and Mary (Chuck) Lynch of Pearisburg, a sister-in-law, Juanita Shrader Lawson of Pulaski; in-laws, Ralph and Brenda Shaver of Narrows, several nieces and nephews, and his extended family at Bethel Chapel and Reese’s Building Supply.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Chapel in Clendennin with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, VA. The family will receive friends, Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bethel Chapel.
