Opal Harry Lawson, 83, of Pearisburg, departed this life on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Va., with her daughters, Sherry and Dreama, and other family and friends, by her side. Born in Oakvale, W.Va., on March 13, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Pete and Annie Davis Harry. She was a member of Angels Rest Baptist Fellowship in Pearisburg. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John R. Lawson Jr.; her brothers, Herman and Lacy Harry, of Waiteville, W.Va., and Otis Harry, of Pearisburg; and her sister, Blanch Gautier, of Covington. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters and son-in-law, Sonja and Arnold (Pete and Sherry) Ferguson, of Narrows, and Dreama L. Bostic, of Glen Lyn; her loving grandchildren, Stan (Hollie) Ferguson, of Narrows, Troy (Tracey) Ferguson, of Pearisburg, Melissa Blankenship, of Christiansburg, and Josh (Kiri) Stanwitz, of San Diego, Calif.; her wonderful greatgrandchildren, DJ (Amanda) Blankenship, of Pearisburg, Slater and Huntar Ferguson, of Narrows, Shannon, Olivia, and Lauren Ferguson, of Pearisburg, and Garrett and Gibson Graham, of Christiansburg; also her daughter, Sandy Stanwitz and granddaughter, Beth Graham, both of Christiansburg; her brothers, Billy and Larry Harry, of Narrows, Willard Harry, of Pearisburg, and Arnold Harry, of New Castle; her sisters, Gladys Givens, of Narrows, Shirley Miller, of Conyers, Ga., and Betty Stallard, of Roanoke; her extended family including Butch and Charlotte Harry, of Pearisburg, Mike, Thelma, Josh Yost, of Pearisburg, Joseph and Lisa Yost, of Blacksburg, Shirley, Kay and David Wyatt, of Dublin and Steven Ray Wyatt, of Montana, whom she loved very much. Her funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011, in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with the Rev. Gary Poff, the Rev. Dr. Don McKinney and the Rev. Dr. Fred Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Memory Gardens in Narrows.
