Lawson, Melvin Floyd

7/1/1939 ~ 6/16/2011 Melvin Floyd Lawson, 71, of Christiansburg and Chesterfield, Va., died at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Gay Lawson; and siblings, Carl Lawson, Sonny Lawson, Dorothy Sowers, Pearlie Bean, and Dora Donathan. Survivors include his wife, Wendy; sons, Steven (Judy) Lawson, and Joel (Penny) Lawson; daughters, Melissa (Paul) Hines, and Angela (John) Stewart ; nine grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Daisy) Lawson, and Kenneth (Dorothy) Lawson; and sisters, Irene (Kenny) Jones, Ruth Weeks, Sue (Johnny) Weeks, and Geraldine (John) Porterfield. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a avid NASCAR fan. A memorial service was held in Chesterfield, Va.
