Lawson, Lee Roy

Lee Roy Lawson, 74, of Rich Creek, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Merrimac, VA on September 23, 1939 to the late James E. and Mae Belle Lawson. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, James Thurman Lawson, Sherwood Clifton Lawson, Dennis Eugene Lawson and Haven Stanley Lawson; son J. C. Scott. He is survived by his wife of 20 years Darlene Lawson, two sons, Brian Scott and Chad Scott, all of Rich Creek; four grandchildren, Addam, Emily, Shane, and Ty; sisters and brother-in-law, Delana Gravley, of Roanoke, Darlene Hawley, Brenda Lawson, both of Salem, Betty Wimmer, of Riner, Doreda Keith and brother-in-law James Keith, of Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie Lawson and wife Elizabeth, of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean Lawson, of Colordo, Martha (Lawson) Holmes, of Christiansburg; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his three children Allen Lawson and wife Julie and four children, Wanda Lawson Reed and husband David and three children, and Richard “Rick” Lawson and wife Mandy and 2 children. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Everett Shepherd and Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memorial Gardens, Dublin. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Giles Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
