Lawson, Fredrick Junior
Fredrick Junior (Cody) (Fred) Lawson, 94, of Blacksburg, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his home. He was born in Wythe County, on March 19, 1919, to the late William Floyd and Dora Bell Shepherd Lawson, and was also preceded in death by his first wife, E. Marie Lawson; two sons, Milton Gary Lawson and Ronnie Clark Lawson; four brothers; and eight sisters. Fred was a veteran of World War II, worked at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, and was a Magistrate for the 27th District. He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Ora Jean and Charles White, of Radford, and Joyce Ann and Larry Slusser, of Blacksburg; sons, Charles Glenn and Carol Lawson, of Christiansburg, Mitchell Vance Lawson, of Blacksburg, and Timothy Evan and Angie Lawson, of Pearisburg; 19 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; wife, Annie Linkous Lawson, of Blacksburg, and her children, Charles Linkous, Diane Cole, Marie Vaught, Karen Lovern; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to say a special thank you to Kathy Bennett for all her help during their father’s illness. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Larry Christopher and the Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
