Julia Pinkman Landes, 85, of Prices Fork, Va., died on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at her home. She was born in Jersey City, N.J. on July 16, 1922 to the late John and Julia O’Neil Pinkman and was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Preston Landes.

She was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church for 60 years where she taught Sunday School. She volunteered at the Christmas Store, Share Program, D.A.V., Retired Senior Volunteer Program and received the Governor’s Award for Volunteer of the year. She was also a substitute teacher at Prices Fork Elementary School.

She was a friend to everyone and is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Linda R. Bolling of Charlottesville and Rosemary L. and Michael W. Jones of Christiansburg; sons and daughters-in-law, John Lawrence (Larry) and Diana Landes of Richmond and William H. (Bill) and Nancy Landes of Radford; sister, Margaret Little of California; special friends, Robert Walker and Patricia Smiley; very special friend, Retired Major Thurston Knapp; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the St. Michael Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Wertz officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2007 at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg, Va.
