Lancaster, Sally Ruth

Sally Ruth Shelburne Lancaster, 86, of Radford, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, at her home. Ruth was born November 27, 1927, to the late Ferd and Ida Phillips Shelburne. She worked for years as a buyer for Leggett’s Department Store in downtown Radford. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, John Fremont Lancaster; and her sister, Alma Dalton. She is survived by her brother, Harvey D. Shelburne, of Radford; her brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Lois Lancaster, of Maine; her nieces and nephews, Carolyn, Charlotte, and Danny Shelburne and Ronnie Dalton, all of Radford; her niece, Julia Schrader, of Maine; and her very special friend and caregiver, Melody Richards. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 9, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at DeVilbiss Funeral Home, with funeral services directly to follow. Mr. Sam McCracken and Mr. Bobby Sylvia will be officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford is in charge of arrangements.
