Michael C. Lancaster, 53, of Christiansburg, passed away Monday, December 24, 2007, at his sister’s home in Blacksburg after a battle with cancer with his family by his side.

He served in the United States Navy as a medical corpsman. An avid outdoorsman he loved fishing and his farm in Smyth County. He was retired from Federal Mogul as a machinist with over 28 years service.

Preceded in death by his parents, Howard O. and Margie Combs Lancaster, he is survived by his sisters, Mary Smith and husband, Carl, Christiansburg, Sarah Lancaster, Blacksburg; a brother, Philip Lancaster; a nephew, Dale Smith and wife, Jennifer; and their son, Cody; a stepson, Joseph William Davis, all of Christiansburg; special friend, Shirley Linkous, Blacksburg, having never met a stranger he is also survived by many unspoken friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007, at the Horne Funeral Service. It was Mike’s request to be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday, December 29, 2007, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Dowdy officiating.
