Lafon, Nancy Rachel Gladys

Nancy Rachel Gladys Lafon, 75, of Second Street, Pembroke, departed this life Tuesday evening, June 10, 2014 at Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Eggleston on June 4, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Easley and Gladys DeWeese Hamblin.

She was a graduate of Pembroke High School (The Corncutters); and served her community for many years as a hairdresser, and as a caregiver to many elderly patients.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jerry Wayne Lafon, and her sisters Irene O’Dell and Betty Steele and brothers Eugene Hamblin and Billy Hamblin.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Danny Ball of Christiansburg; her son John David Lafon of Pembroke; her grandchildren 1st Lt. Bradley Ball and his wife Erin of U S Army, Ft. Hood, TX and Megan Lafon of Princeton, WV; her brother John Hamblin of Pembroke; her foster daughter and husband Mae and Richard Cody of Peterstown, WV, several beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted Friday evening at 7:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
