LaFon, Melvin R.

Mr. Melvin R. LaFon, 84, of Kernersville, N.C., died Monday, December 25, 2006 at home.

He was born August 18, 1922, in Eggleston, Va. to the late Frank and Pricy Merrideth LaFon. He served 22 years in the United States Army, and was a World War II and Korean War Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Johnston LaFon; three grandchildren, Thomas, Tamara, and James; five sisters and one brother. Surviving are three children, a son, Ned LaFon of Mt. Holly, N.J.; two daughters, Debra Fitzgerald of Kernersville, N.C., and Sharon Blais of Florence, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Marshall and Ryan Fitzgerald, Scarlett Toner, Jacob LaFon, Linette Bruno, Todd Werling, and Richard McLennan; 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jack had a great sense of Humor and will be sorely missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and his beloved dogs.
