Leonard Wilson Lafon, 87, of Christiansburg, went home to be with the Lord Friday October 10, 2015. He retired with 40 years of service in the Horticulture Department at Virginia Tech.

He is proceeded in death by parents, Clarence and Nettie Lafon of Blacksburg; son, Timothy Dale Lafon; brothers, Claude, Mason, A.A., Sammie, and twin brother, Lamah Lafon; sisters, Alma Cox and Imez Woolwine.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Jean Odham Lafon; son and daughter in-law, Larry and Donna Lafon of Mount Holly, N.C.; sister, Marie Oliver of Columbia, S.C.; sister-in-law, Mildred “Brownie” Lafon of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Jayson Albert, Trey and Cindy Gunter, Phillip and Jessica Lafon, Jason and Whitney Lafon, Dustin and Krista Lafon, and Danielle Lafon-Rowland; great-grandchildren Roxy, Gavin, Caleb, and Macy Lafon, Brandon and Brittany Gunter; special friends, Ricky Allen and Manual Lawson; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

He attended Faith Christian Church of Christiansburg. Leonard enjoyed going to Virginia Tech Hokie games, yard sales, flea markets and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday October 14, 2015, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Rhudy officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
