lafon_lamah_nelsonLamah Nelson Lafon, age 87, of Blacksburg died Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery County, VA on January 23, 1928 to the late Clarence and Nettie Smith Lafon.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Claude, Fonse, Mason, Sammy Lafon and his sisters, Alma Cox, Inez Woolwine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura Lou Lafon; daughters and sons-in-law: Carolyn Wilson of Hermitage, TN, Janice and Mike Jones of Savannah, GA, twin daughters Rhonda and Johnny Martin of Christiansburg and Robin Lafon of Blacksburg; sister, Marie “Tootie” Oliver of Columbia, SC; twin brother, Leonard and Thelma Jean Lafon of Christiansburg; sister-in-law, Mildred (Brownie) Lafon, of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Phillip Martin, Terri Martin-Baltz and husband, Bubba, Jamie Lytton, Laura Jones; great-grandchildren, Adam, Charleigh, Joseph, Gabe, Saleena, Kailee; numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff in ICU at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Ansley officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, NE, Blacksburg, VA 24060 and to the Blacksburg First Church of God, PO Box 388, Blacksburg, VA 24063.

The family will receive friends from 6-9:00 pm Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg.
