Frances Lorine Lafon, 88, of Newport, departed this life Saturday morning, February 6, 2016 at Heritage Hall Rich Creek. Born in Marion on March 21, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Hiram Edward and Ada Bell Brown Sexton. She was a beloved wife, mother, and homemaker, “a good looker and a good cooker” her husband always said.

Frances, better known as “Frankie” was a member of the New River Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pembroke. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Berlin Eugene Lafon, her son Edwin E Lafon and an large family of brothers and sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Betty L. Lafon of Christiansburg and Judy L. Hager and her husband Charles R. Hager of Dublin and daughter-in-law Jean Macy Lafon of Newport; ; her grandchildren Robert E. Hager wife Pamela of Franklin, MA, Lori Hager of Nashville, TN, Todd Vaught wife Michelle, Chad Vaught wife Lisa of Christiansburg, and Shannon Lafon of Wytheville; her great-grandchildren Liam and Ashley Hager, Abby, Corbin, Claire, Cooper Vaught, Brooklyn Lafon; her step-grandchildren Scott Vest wife Chrissi of Radford, Greg Vest of Wytheville; her step-great-grandchildren Tori and Morgan Vest, Matthew and Jonathan Macy; her sister Betty Louthan of Marion.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward, Pembroke with Bishop Darin Jones Presiding. Burial will follow in the Kire Community Cemetery on Big Stony Creek. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services.
