John Henry Kytchen, 79, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at his home.

He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on June 22, 1928, to the late Charles H. (Buster) and Minnie Dove Kytchen. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed at Virginia Tech for over 20 years, and also owned and operated John’s Garage.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen O. Kytchen, of Blacksburg; three daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Cook, Debbie and Ronnie Lowe, and Vickie Kytchen, all of Blacksburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Garie L. and Marlene Kytchen, of Blacksburg; one sister, Nellie Piateck, of Blacksburg; two grandchildren, Chris Price and Jeffery Lowe; two greatgrandsons, Brayden Jacob Price and John Richard Logan Price; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon on Thursday, January 10, 2008, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
