Jacob Jackson (Jake) Kirkner, 29, of Shawsville, beloved by family and friends, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 25, 2006 as he was surrounded by loved ones.

His spirited, good-nature, and enthusiasm for life allowed Jake to fill his three decades with more friends and adventures than most people might experience in a long lifespan. His love and loyalty to family and friends, and his unmatched generosity are attributes most noted by those who knew him. A humble man of simple taste, Jake was wealthy in friends and family. He was blessed with the ability to give love to all.

After graduating from Christiansburg High School in 1996, Jake worked with his father, learning the various skills of building construction and renovations. He later became self employed. Jake was an avid fisherman and hunter, he so enjoyed the mountains and rivers of his home. Now Jake will live in the hearts and minds of all those whom he touched in life.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Harry K. Kirkner, Jr. and Walter Jackson Jones; and his grandmother, Celia Ilene Linticum Jones. Survivors include his wife, Karen Ramsey Kirkner; his parents, Jerry Lee and Linda Jones Kirkner; sister, Elisha Marie Kirkner; grandmother, Julia Kirkner; brothers-in-law, Kevin Ramsey and Jason Hale; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken and Wanda Ramsey; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Kingrea officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
