kirkner harvey warrenHarvey Warren Kirkner, 83, of Christiansburg, died on Monday, March 26, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. Kirkner and Mary Ratcliffe Kirkner; two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Louise) Kirkner; two sons, Michael (Lisa) Kirkner, of Christiansburg and Dean Kirkner, of Alabama; two grandsons, Jason (Stephanie) Kirkner and Paul Kirkner; two granddaughters, Caroline and Stephanie Kirkner; one stepgranddaughter, Adrienne Sowers; one sister, Leona Reed Lovern (Clifford); three sisters-in-law, Julia Kirkner, of Christiansburg, Willadean Kirkner, of Pilot and Vivian (Elwood) Goad, of Radford; and a special brother-in-law, Dave Adams, of Georgia. He retired from RAAP after 37 years of service. He was an active member of North Fork Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a longtime VFW member of Post 5311 and a member of the Masonic Lodge (McDaniel #86 AF & AM). He also served in the Air Force from 1947-1950 and participated in the Berlin Air Lift. Harvey will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Brugger officiating.
