Kirk, James Gordon

James (Jimmy) Gordon Kirk, 70, of Pearisburg, VA, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Jimmy was born on June 19, 1947 in Pearisburg, VA, the son of the late Glen Gordon and Opal Mustard Kirk. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lannie St.Clair.

Survivors include his sisters Mary St.Clair and Becky Moore (Dean), his brothers Billy Kirk and Michael Kirk (Carol), his closest nieces Dawn Lineberry, Ashley St.Clair, Kristie Reed, and Alicia VanHoozier, special great-nieces and nephews Landace Lineberry, Landon, Bayleigh, and Kennedi Reed, and Ryleigh and Kameron VanHoozier. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as well as his special friend Bobby Sanders Jr.

Jimmy was a 1965 graduate of Giles High School. He was a United States Army veteran and was retired from Celanese after many years of service. He was a lifelong member of Wesley’s Chapel UMC. He enjoyed many years of farming however nothing brought more joy to his life than spending time with his great nieces and nephews. Jimmy also enjoyed his daily routine of morning coffee with the men of Trigg and watching Andy Griffith every afternoon.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Kim Goddard and Rev. Lynn Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirk Family Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Narrows VFW Post# 68 and American Legion Posts #68 of Narrows, #311 of Pembroke and #145 Peterstown.

The family will receive friends at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
