amem_yellow_hyacinth.jpgChristine Collins Kirk, 88, of Charlottesville and formerly of the Trigg Community, Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from the home of her daughter, Marie K. Simpkins.

She was born July 6, 1918 at Hoges Chapel, Va., the daughter of the late George Willie and Minnie Jane Hamblin Collins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren Evans Kirk and a son, Linwood Kirk. She was a member of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church and the Wabash Rebekah Lodge #65.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Donald Lee Simpkins, Charlottesville; Judy and Steve Donovan, Roanoke; a daughter-in-law, Patty Kirk, Charlottesville; one sister, Estelle Bales, Pearisburg; 8 grandchildren, Jeffery Kirk, Steven Kirk, Michael Kirk, Tony Simpkins, Terri Martin, Tammy Flynn, Eddie Donovan and Jody Donovan; 14 greatgrandchildren; special friends, Dick and Mary Lou Kerns.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Betty Roberts and the Rev. Lindsey Ellis of Charlottesville officiating. Burial in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. Visitation will be at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate on Tuesday after 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

A special thank you to Dr. Tim Short, Hospice of the Piedmont and to the special hospice angels, Marrissa, Edith, Katha, Joanie and Teresa. The family will gather at the home of Garfield and Estelle Bales, 309 Mountain Drive, Pearisburg.
