Kirby, William K.

William K. “Bill” Kirby, age 80, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home in Narrows, VA. Born January 30, 1943, in Salem, VA he was the son of the late William Dewey and Lillian Faye McCaleb Kirby.

Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Narrows, VA. He was a 1961 graduate of Narrows High School and a proud Green Wave all his life. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club for many years and the Progress in Narrows Now (PINN) organization that spearheaded the “Snowflake” project in Narrows. He also volunteered his time to “Keep Giles Beautiful” for many years.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one brother Roscoe Kirby; and two sisters, Lillian Bradley and Wanda Walrond. Those left to cherish is memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Judith Wills Kirby of Narrows, VA; one son, Doug Kirby and wife Carolyn of Narrows, VA; one daughter, Deborah Kirby, of Christiansburg, VA; three grandchildren, Blake and Jackie Kirby of Narrows, VA, and Thomas Dudding of Christiansburg, VA; and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors. Also, the family would like to send a special thank you to Carilion Hospice for their wonderful care.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
