Armsted Gallion Kipps, 71, of Blacksburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 1, 2007. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on May 12, 1936 to the late Clarence Kipps and Millie Gay Kipps Martin. Armsted was also preceded in death by three brothers, C.B. (Jack), Billy, and Don; and one son-in-law, Stuart Baker.

He was retired from Virginia Tech with over 40 years of service. Armsted was an avid sports fan who loved his Hokie football, Washington Redskins, and especially the New York Yankees.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 51 years, Geneva; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dale and Toni, Dean and Roberta; son Joey; daughters, Robin Dunbar and Vicky Baker; and four grandchildren, Madison, Andrew, Gallion, and Kayla.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Sloss and the Rev. Randy Woolwine officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
