King, Garnet Hale

Garnet Hale King, 94, was received to our Lord on the evening of Monday, October 3, 2011. She was a lifelong resident of Check, Va., in Floyd County.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Brammer King; parents, William Edward and Ollie Whitenack Hale; her brother, William Hale, of Radford; and her sister, Nelva Rutrough, of Blacksburg.

She is survived by her sister, Francis Graham, of Galax; son, Kenneth Hale King, of Check; former daughter-in-law, Carolyn C. King; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy King and Vernon W. Page, of Roanoke; and grandchildren and spouses, Vickey King and Jody Davis, Kenneth H. Jr. and Kelly King, of Roanoke, Joseph and Heather King, of Check, Dr. Kelly Page and Dominique Werder, of Tampa, Fla., Nicole Page and Jason Ray, of Roanoke.

Granny Great delights included her nine great-grandchildren, Max and Samson Werder, Caroline, Kenneth, William and Luke King, Trevor and Caitlin King and Nicholas Davis. Her love for family was immeasurable, serving as both her strength and legacy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Salem Church (Head of the River) Copper Hill with Elder Larry Hollandsworth and Elder Junior Conner officiating. Interment will be held in Restvale Cemetery.
