King, Frederick Merriell

Frederick Merriell (Freddie) King, 70, of Pembroke, departed this life Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Lewis-Gale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg after a long illness. Born in Pembroke on August 23, 1942, he was a son of Vellen Summers King, of Pembroke, and the late Rufus Burrel King. He had been employed with the Town of Pearisburg before he retired.

He ws preceded in death by his father and his brother Douglas King. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother; his beloved wife, Melissa Sachs King; his sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin Adam King and Toni Lynne Brown, of Rich Creek, Branden Philip and Danielle King, of Pearisburg; his grandchildren, Kiara King, Branden Philip King II., Allanuh King, Jaiden King, Jasmine King, Antonio Formes, Amira Brown; his sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Rev. Fred Carper, of Pembroke; his brothers and sister-in-law “Billy” Rufus Lee King, of Pembroke and Donald and Madeline King, of Pembroke. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with the Rev Fred Carper officiating. Burial will follow in the Horseshoe Cemetery at Pembroke.
