David Vance King, 48, of Elliston, Va., formerly of Narrows, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bluefield, W.Va. on May 22, 1961, and was the son of Jacqueline Lambert King and the late John Davidson King Jr.

A 1979 graduate of Narrows High School and a Wytheville Community College graduate, David was a QA Engineer with Plastics One, Inc. in Roanoke. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, outdoorsman and loved his Cincinnati Reds. He also enjoyed bluegrass and southern gospel music, and will be best remembered for his unprecedented generosity and love of family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Jacqueline Lambert King, of Narrows; two sisters and their husbands, Susan and Dennis Kidd, of Narrows and Lisa and Jim Korb, of Elliston; a brother and his wife, Richard and Regina King, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a niece, Catherine Korb, of Elliston; four nephews, Silas Korb of Houston, Texas, Jeremy Kidd, of Richmond, Jonathan Kidd, of Wytheville, and Christian King, of Winston-Salem; several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Hales Chapel United Methodist Church in the Wolf Creek community near Narrows with the Rev. Leon O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Boyd Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
