Brenda Tolbert King, 46, of Radford, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Brenda was born February 22, 1963. Brenda was a teacher and basketball coach at Hidden Valley High School and previously at Pulaski County High School and Radford High School. Teaching, coaching and her children were Brenda’s passions. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Radford where she taught the teenage Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Danny Lee King.

Survivors include her children Jared King, a freshman baseball player at UVA and Kelly King of the home; mother, Nita Turman, of Willis; brother and sister-in-law, Bink (Dreama) Tolbert, of Willis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie (Gary) Hale, of Cloverdale, Pam Dalton (Brad Sawyers), of Draper, and twin sister, Linda (Coy) King, of Floyd. Other survivors include two stepsons, Frankie and Greg King; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces; hundreds of players and students; and her beloved dog, Shooter.

A Celebration of Brenda’s Life will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the Pulaski County High School Gym with Dr. Paul Lane officiating.
