Kincaid, Eloise Durr

Eloise Elaine Durr Kincaid, of Fairlawn, Va. died on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the age of 75. Born November 8, 1942 in Princeton, W.Va., she grew up on a small farm on the Athens Road, where Durr’s Pond Road is now located. Her parents, Hilda and Howard Durr were both schoolteachers in Mercer County. She attended Athens Grade School and High School and Concord College before marrying John Wayne Kincaid, now deceased of Crescent City, California, who was an electronics technician for the United States Navy in 1964. For the next 17 years, they spent traveling all over the world, having a daughter born in Guam and a son in San Diego, Calif. It was during this time that Eloise studied and became an artist and crafter, making it her career for the next 40 years. She received many awards for her paintings hanging in galleries all over the US. She also did fairs, craft shows, and consignment shops, and had two ceramic shops with molds and kilns of her own.

Survivors include her daughter, Victoria Louise Kincaid Holmes, and E.R. Trauma Nurse of Memphis, Tenn.; her son, Jeffrey Dwayne Kincaid, a Senior Software Systems Engineer and wife, Allison Marie Aliff Kincaid, a Logistics Specialist, of Fairlawn, Va. both working at Volvo; her brother, Ted Alan Durr, now retired of Princeton; grandchildren, Lewis Bernard, Shane Michael, and wife, Sondra, Jeffrey Dwayne, Jasamine, Aaron, Angelica, Audrey, and Kourtnie; eight great-grandchildren, Alexia, Viviana, Colton, Ace, Ezekiel, Lily, Ayden, and Ryan; niece; Rebecka Durr and son, Lucian of Bluefield, W.Va.; nephews, Taft Durr and wife, Hope of Pulaski, Va.; Cory Durr of Bluefield, W.Va., Matthew Durr and wife, Binderia, and children, Emma and Sky of Compton Plaine, N.J.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Eloise Elaine Durr Kincaid will be held 5 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Seneca Baptist Church 8572 Roanoke Road, Elliston, Va. 24087 with Pastor John Collins officiating. Another Angel has gone Home!
