Kessler, Vivian Mae

Vivian Mae (Granny) Kessler, 85, of Shawsville passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and Claude McDaniel; a granddaughter, Tammy Journell; brothers, Charles, Carl and Richard McDaniel; and a sister, Geraldine Conner.

Granny served as a foster parent to over 100 children. Her door was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay.

Surviving are her husband of almost 66 years, Sonny Kessler; daughters, Debbie Perdue and husband Gary, Teresa Shepherd and husband Timothy; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geneva Huffman.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church by the Rev. Wes Conner. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
