Kessler, Anna Cosby Garten

Anna Cosby Garten Kessler, 87 of Narrows, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008, at her home.

She was born in Summers County, West Virginia on August 3, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Dorsey Allen and Mary Dorothy Campbell Garten. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Kessler, a brother, Russell Garten, a sister, Devanis Garten, and a special friend, Everett Lee.

She served as a registered nurse in the United States Navy during World War II and received the World War II Victory Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon. She spent many years working as a nurse at the Owens, Illinois Glass Company in Charleston, West Virginia. She transferred to North Bergen, New Jersey, where she retired as registered nurse.

She is survived by one son, Stephen Kessler, of Narrows; and many special relatives and friends throughout Virginia and West Virginia.
