Kessinger, Mary Alice

Mary Alice Kessinger, 70, of Market Road, in Rich Creek, Va., departed this life at her home on Monday morning, June 7, 2010. Born in Giles County on April 3, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Chapman and Edith Carter Cumbee. She had worked at several local restaurants as a cook and server. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Lee, Winfred, Ronnie, and Buck Cumbee. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 49 years, Boyce N. Kessinger; her son and daughter-in-law, Roy Lee and Sharon Cumbee, of Rich Creek; her brothers, Robert Cumbee, of Pembroke, and Frankie Cumbee, of Blacksburg; and her sisters, Georgia C. Hughes, Freda C. Sanders, and Sue Cumbee, all of Pembroke, and Elizabeth C. Harless, of Rocky Gap. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in the Kessinger Family Cemetery at Interior.
