Stanley Glenn Kerr Sr., 84, of Pearisburg, departed this life Monday morning, August 25, 2008, at his home. Born at Goodwins Ferry in Giles County on March 14, 1924, he was a son of the late Emmitt Glenn and Cynthia Lois Bowyer Kerr.

He was employed at the Celanese Celco Plant for over 44 years, was a veteran of the United States Army in World War II, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, was a 50 year member of Eggleston Lodge No. #309 AF & AM, and was a life member of VFW Post #1184 in Pulaski.

A sister, Evelyn Ramsey Dowdy preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, “Boots” Beulah Jones Kerr; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Glenn Jr. and Stonna Kerr, of Pearisburg; a granddaughter, Danielle Kerr, of Pearisburg and her fiance, Michael Bell; and faithful and good neighbors who have helped so much during Stanley’s illness, Don Lucas and Carol Madero.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008, in the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev. Fred Austin and the Rev. Vince MacIsaac officiating with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke on Wednesday evening, August 27, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. Eggleston Lodge will conduct Masonic Rites at the funeral home at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and VFW Post #1184, Pulaski, will conduct Military Rites at the graveside.
