Kennedy, Julie McMurray

Julie McMurray Kennedy, 44, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away on Monday, January 7, 2008, at Wesley Long Hospital. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, at First Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Stephen Pressley officiating.

Julie was born September 13, 1963, in Kingsport, Tenn., to Julian and Janet Peters McMurray. She attended Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Va. and later graduated from Emory and Henry College. She spent many hours volunteering in the schools, church and with the Girl Scouts. She especially loved working in the church nursery, and enjoyed cooking, sewing and stamping.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Kennedy; and children, Andrew Seth Kennedy, Kelly Anne Kennedy and Matthew Ross Kennedy, all of the home; parents, Julian and Janet McMurray; sister, Penny McMurray Dresser and husband, Kevin, of Riner, Va.; brother, Tim C. McMurray, of Newport, Va.; in-laws, Bill and Irene Kennedy, of Martinsville, Va.; and sister-in-law, Cindy Reedy and husband, Gary, of Dresher, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will meet with friends on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Lung Cancer Partnership, 222 N.
