Jerome P. Kelly, 65, of Blacksburg, formerly of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away on Monday, March 17, 2008, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
He went to join the Lord on St. Patrick’s Day, which is appropriate since this was his patron Saint. He passed away with his daughter and son-in-law by his side after a short battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Girardville, Pa. He was the son of the late Patrick J. and Mary H. Pitts Kelly.
He is survived by two daughters, Noel B. Norris, of Chesapeake, Va., and Venessa M. Stosser, of Blacksburg, Va.; two sons-in-law, Thomis Norris, of Chesapeake, Va., and Jeffrey P. Stosser, of Blacksburg, Va.; one brother, Robert C. Kelly, of State College, Pa.; two nephews, Dennis Kelly, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Robert Kelly, of State College, Pa. He was Poppy to four beautiful grandchildren, Nick and Courtney Stosser, of Blacksburg, and Evan and Andrew Norris, of Chesapeake. He leaves behind his best friend and buddy, Kenny Bigley, of Marietta, Ohio, who he loved like a brother. He will be sorely missed at the American Legion Post #64 in Marietta, Ohio.
He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war aboard the USS Coral Sea and later retired from the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64 in Marietta, Ohio. He was retired from Fenton Art Glass Company in Williamstown, W.Va. Jerome was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the Penn State Nittney Lions as well as the Virginia Tech Hokies. He will be missed at the tailgates. Jerome was a jokester and could always bring a smile to anyone’s face.
A memorial service will be held at McCoy Funeral Home at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Family and friends are welcome to join in his service which will be conducted by Father Jim Arsenault of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
The family will receive flowers at the McCoy Funeral Home. Any donations that would like to be made should go to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018, in memory of Jerome Patrick Kelly.
A Celebration of Life Party will be held at the American Legion in Marietta, Ohio at the family’s convenience. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fountain Springs, Pa., at the convenience of the family.
