Edith H. Kelly, age 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 1, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Seffner, Florida. Mrs. Kelly was born, along with Ethel, a twin sister, on May 21, 1923, in Callands, Virginia.

Edith grew up in Rocky Mount, Virginia where she attended public schools and graduated from Franklin County High School. She later moved to Narrows, Virginia where she met Bill Kelly. The couple married in June of 1947 and spent over 70 years together prior to Bill’s death in 2018. They moved to Pulaski, Virginia in 1955 where they remained for nearly 60 years.

Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elberta Hairfield, husband Bill, and seven siblings. She is survived by one brother, Josesph Hairfield, Jr., her five children, Jim (Kathryn), Mike (Pat), Steve (Mauri), Rick (Kristen) and Judy (Jeff), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Edith was a devoted mother and housewife. She loved the family home, Trail’s End, in Pulaski County and spent many evenings with Bill in their rockers on the front porch enjoying the views and sunsets. When the children began leaving for college, she worked for several years in retail sales. She also volunteered with the American Red Cross and the Daily Bread ministry at the First Presbyterian Church in Pulaski.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. Donations in memory of Edith can be made to the Pulaski Animal Shelter, 80 Dublin Park Road, Dublin, VA 24084.
