Keffer, Elbert Lane

Elbert Lane Keffer, 95 of Pearisburg, VA., went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 23, 2024. Lane was born on July 26, 1929, in Craig Co., VA and was a son of the late Elbert Lee Keffer and Minnie Exie Martin Keffer.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn Loraine Harrell Keffer and son, Eric Keffer. He is also predeceased by his sisters Janie Smith, Lorene Meadows, and Marion Eppard and his brother Martin Keffer. He is also predeceased by 13 brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law.

Lane was a longtime member and was an Elder at the First Christian Church in Pearisburg and was involved in the regional church in Virginia. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War and was stationed on the USS Helena in the Pacific Ocean. He was a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. in Narrows with 44 years of service. Lane was an active member of his community, donating time and resources to those in need. Central to his life was the love of his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Keffer Saville of Pearisburg, VA and two grandsons, Kelley (LeeAnn) Keffer of Pearisburg, VA and Shane (Lauren) Saville of Salem, VA. He is survived by three great-grandsons, Skyler Keffer and Hunter Keffer of Pearisburg, VA, and Carson Saville of Salem, VA. He is survived by his sister, Mary Catherine (Don) Williams of Bluefield, VA, and brother-in-law Roger (Susan) Harrell of Dublin, VA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 1pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Pastor Gary McCoy officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home 1 hour before the service from 12 – 1pm.
