Memphus Jarvis Kast, 67, of Clendennin Road, Narrows, VA, departed this life Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in the care of Carilion New River Medical Center at Radford after a battle with cancer. Born on July 9, 1951 he was a son of the late Clarence Joseph and Alice Louise Lafon Kast.

He attended Bethel Chapel Church in Clendennin, served our country in the US Army during the Viet Nam Era, and had a long working career with GS Hopkins. After retiring, he enjoyed farming and hunting, but his greatest treasure was spending time with family.

Memphus was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul, Richard, and Norman Eugene Kast, and sisters Ruth Kast Martin and Carylon Christene Kast.

He is survived by his beloved and cherished fiancé Betty Vincil, his beloved sons Memphus Jarvis Kast II and his wife Charity of Pueblo, CO, Vernon William Kast and his wife Missy of Pearisburg, VA and John Ryan Kast and his wife Jessica of Pueblo, CO; his cherished sisters that have always been there for him Gloria Kast, Barbara Kast Elliott (Dennis) and Rachel Kast Tate all of Narrows, VA and Janet Kast Bachelder (Tony) of Strong, ME; his beloved brothers Arnold Kast and Clarence Kast Jr. (Penny) both of Narrows, VA; two wonderful sisters-in-law Wanda Kast of Williamstown, NJ and Sharon Kast of Lynchburg, VA; his cherished 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; Betty’s children who were like his own Aubrey Boothe (Lisa) of Narrows, VA, Cody Vincil (Wanda) and Tammy Kast both of Blacksburg, VA; Betty’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved their “Poppy” very much and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 am in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Memory Gardens at Narrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8 pm.
