Carl Willis Karickhoff of 1075 Cassatt Lane, Christiansburg, VA passed away at home on January 30, 2023. He was born in Buckhannon, WV on May 6, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Camden and Wilma Pauline (Casto) Karickhoff.

He was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon, WV and served in the army during the Korean War. He worked in the VA Medical Center as a nuclear medical technician for over 31 years, retiring in 1986.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Donna Kay Karickhoff; brother, Paul (Patricia) Karickhoff of French Creek, WV; children, Julia (Doug) Shaffer of Berryville, VA, Amy (Rick) Mawyer of Charles Town, WV, Laura (Eugene) Swope of Harpers Ferry, WV and Thomas Karickhoff of Martinsburg, WV; stepchildren Thomas (Sheila) Mauk of Lake Placid, FL, Terri Mauk of Christiansburg, VA, Diane Mauk of Martinsburg, WV, and Edward (Holly) Mauk of Butler, PA; as well as 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He attended Riner Grace Brethren Church. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family, watching wildlife (especially birds and deer), listening to music (especially bluegrass) and watching NASCAR, Pittsburgh Pirate baseball, basketball, football and BattleBots.

A memorial service in his honor will be held at 11:00 am on February 18, 2023, at Riner Grace Brethren Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riner Grace Brethren Church or the American Cancer Society.
