Raymond Miller Kanode, 80, of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 16, 2010, from his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born in Pembroke on December 11, 1929, and was the son of the late Robert Lee Kanode and Iva Smith Kanode Wright.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Kanode Jr. and Sidney Kanode; and three sisters, Dana Robertson, Wilma Hanning and Hattie Gaschaski.

He was a longtime employee of Hometown Pharmacy in Narrows, a custodian at Narrows Elementary/Middle School, and worked throughout the Narrows community for many years in various jobs. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him throughout Giles County.

Left to cherish his memory are a sister, Mary Ellen Kanode Amos, of Franklin County; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends, including Melvin, Karen and Levi Galford, of Narrows.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating.
