Kanode, Lilly Blanche Flinchum

Lilly Blanche Flinchum Kanode, 84, of Christiansburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Sherman R. Kanode; and daughter, Joyce Kanode Van Dyke. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Rita Kanode; her daughter and son-in-law, Tenna and John Hosner; special friend, Fred Williams; grandsons, Zack Kanode and wife, Michelle, David Hosner and wife, Patsy; granddaughters, Kim Bain, Michelle Stafford, Angela Serody, Marsha Van Dyke Tartar; great-grandsons, Austin, Matt, Josh, Austin, Jared, Jerry, Dylan, and Jason; great-granddaughters, Savanna, Caitlin, Rachel, Rebecca and Sara; great- great-grandsons, Brenden and Keven. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mickey White and the Rev. Ken Farrah officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. She loved and participated in flea markets and craft fairs, where many of her friends would visit her. She was a seamstress, candlewicker and a hand embroiderer all her life. She has been a member of the Mount Tabor Methodist Church for 38 years.
