Kanode, Iris Long Covey

Iris Long Covey Kanode, 72, of Winston-Salem, NC died Monday, July 28, 2008 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem. She was born in Pulaski on May 21, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Ira Hubert Long, Sr. and Grace Slusher Long. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Long and by husbands, James K. Covey and James Kanode.

She was a retired employee of the State of Virginia.

Surviving are: daughter, Sandra Taylor, Winston-Salem, NC; son, Kyle Covey, Winston-Salem, NC; three sisters, Brenda Faw, Vinton, Dottie Lewis, Draper, Linda Peak, Dublin; brother, Roger L. Long, Dublin; three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski.

Visiting will be Wednesday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
