Phyllis Howard Jones, 79, of Blacksburg, beloved wife, mother, and sister, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 5, 2006.

She was born in Blacksburg, Va. on May 2, 1927, to the late Irwin Shelburne and Laura Bower Howard. She loved to cook, and take care of her family and home. She loved VA Tech and was a member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church for 79 years.

She is survived by her husband, James Nicholas “Nick” Jones, Jr., of Blacksburg; daughters , Luralee Jones Cornwell and husband Stephen, of Fredericksburg, Nicolynne Jones, of the home; sisters, Louise Howard, of Blacksburg, Frances H. Baird, of Roanoke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, William and Irene Jones, of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Nick Cornwell, of Salem, and Jean Cornwell, of Charlottesville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reggie Tuck and the Rev. Morris Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, NE, Blacksburg, Va. 24060 or the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 931, Blacksburg, Va. 24063.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Drive. SW, Blacksburg.
