Jones, Mildred Francis

Mildred Francis Jones, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital. Born August 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Elbert and Mattie Francis. She was a supervisor at the Virginia Tech Physical Plant and custodian of the Peterstown United Methodist Church for over twenty-five years.

Mildred was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda J. Noble, and two granddaughters, Cynthia Breeding and Rebecca Breeding. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sue Breeding and husband Gary of Hopewell, VA; Jennifer Caldwell and husband Charles of Quinton, VA; and Vincent Jones of Mullens, WV.

Mildred is also missed by her seven surviving grandchildren, Marnie Bourne of Mattaponi, VA; Dawn Noble of Rich Creek, VA; Nicholas Breeding of West Palm Beach, FL; Nathaniel Breeding of Washington, DC; Jessica Allen (Bill) of Raleigh, NC; Tiffany Granger (Tom) of Princeton, WV; and Ashley Davis (Matthew) of Pineville, WV. Her four much loved great-grandchildren are Logan Bourne, Ward Allen, Charles Allen, and Thomas Allen.

A memorial service is being planned for Mildred and will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Peterstown United Methodist Church, 9 Church Street, Peterstown, VW, 24963.
