Sue, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Mike. I just learned from Ray Stout. My heart goes out to you; Mike was ‘one of a kind’. I will always remember the days working with him; especially in VA. Mike was driving me & several other coworkers to a Kick-Off Meeting on the Eastern Shore. We were driving in Virginia Beach down Shore Drive through what we locals called ‘the forest’ near one of the military bases. Mike was sailing along when a police officer pulled us over. We were all like ‘oh no’. I didn’t know at that time that Mike was former police. So the cop asks ‘where you headed’ blah, blah, blah. Mike was all calm & hands him his license. All of a sudden the officer was all nice, wished us well & to be safe & let us go. Mike was laughing, of course. Then he explained that he had some ID that he was a former cop or something to that effect! We all had a good laugh. Then we went toward the ocean front as Mike was showing us around the area. I actually still have a pic from that trip that was taken on the beach of eastern shore & also one under the Pier sign in Virginia Beach. That was one of my cherished moments with Mike. I know he is truly missed. Pls. let us know when his memorial will be & I will try to come. We miss both of you! Always sad to lose one of our FEMA family members. Take care of yourself! God bless!
