Jones, Jr., Oscar

Oscar Jones Jr., 76 of Floyd, passed away at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Jones Sr. and Ruby Duncan; step-mother, Esteline Jones; brother, Roger Jones; and sister, Iva Dale Duncan.

Oscar enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and friends. He retired from Hubbell Lighting after approximately 36 years of service. He was also a faithful member of the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren and loved spending his free time helping out around the church.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jones; step-son, Steve Wood (Janet); step-daughter, Michelle Fisher (Phillip); sisters, Dinah Mabry & Sue Bailey; brother-in-law, Ira Duncan; special sister-in-law, Phyllis Butterworth; five grandchildren, Amanda Tabor (Thomas), Charles Price, Erika Scruggs (Aaron), Jackelyn Dillabough (Travis), and Abigail Fisher; great-granddaughter, Ava Layne Tabor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Turpin and Pastor Brian Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Lester Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family requests that if you plan to attend the funeral service that masks be worn while inside the church.
