Jones, John “Freddie”

John “Freddie” Jones 78, of Rich Creek, VA passed away Thursday February 25, 2021 at his home following an extended illness. Born September 18, 1942, in Cumberland, MD., he was the son of the late Jack and Mitzie Southerland Jones.

Freddie was a member of the Wayside Baptist Church/First Baptist Church, Rich Creek, VA., and the Rich Creek Lions Club. Freddie loved to fish and play golf. Freddie was previously employed by Giles Memorial Hospital for over 25 years and retired from Virginia Tech in 2007.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda “Sue” Jones; one daughter, Rhonda Perdue and husband Jamie of Peterstown, WV, and his grandson whom he adored, Owen Perdue; one brother, Gary Jones and wife Nancy of Annapolis, MD; two sisters, Kitty Norcross of St. Michaels, MD, and Nancy Pietsch of Weston, WV. He had numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA with Rev. Jerry Hagerman officiating.
