Jones, James Ervin

James Ervin Jones, 70, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on September 9, 1943 to the late James C. and Brownie Cooper Jones. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Jones and a sister, Mamie Jones. He retired from the Town of Blacksburg. He is survived by his wife, Eunice S. Jones; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Shirley Akers, of McCoy, Larry and Ruth Ann Akers, of McCoy; one daughter, Lynn Akers, of Hillsville; three grandchildren, Sheldon Akers and wife, Johnna, Justin Akers and wife, Whitney, and special grandson, Nicholas Akers; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Akers and Connor Akers; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl Jones, of Blacksburg, Sam and Cindy Jones, of Blacksburg, Johnny and Carolyn Jones, of Christiansburg; two sisters and brother-in-law, Bonnie Caldwell, of Blacksburg, Tean and Bill Bradbury, of Blacksburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Sunnyside Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Steve Thomas, and Pastor Everette Shepherd officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McCoy Funeral Home, Inc. to offset expenses.
