Jones, Glenn Junior (Deacon)

Glenn Junior (Deacon) Jones, 89, of Pulaski, Va., passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015. He was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Pulaski, to the late Tirey Glen and Maggie Funk Jones.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Jones, and sisters Marie Jones and Betty Jane Taylor.

He was an electrician by trade and retired from the Radford Arsenal. He loved John Deere tractors and could be seen on his riding mower almost daily. Most of all, he loved his family and shared his many skills working along side his three sons on any projects they had going. Each of their homes has a touch of him within the walls.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Betty Hyatt Jones; sons J.R. Jones and wife Sandy, Curtis Jones and wife Lorri, and Jerry Jones and Lois Hedrick; daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Lannie Morris; grandchildren and spouses Wayne Jones, Bridgett and Wes Gobble, and Stacy and Rusty Spears; 11 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Drexel Lyons; brother Bill Jones and sister-in-law Almeta Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rusty Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Thornspring Church Cemetery, Pulaski. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Stevens Funeral Home.
